Culinary Summer Camps 2018

Date: Four separate 1-week Sessions, June - July

Time: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Each Day

Ages: 7 – 12

Cost: $450 per session -- $405 before April 1

Class size: small hands-on classes limited to 6 kids per session

Session 1: June 18 – 22 (Global Session)

Session 2: July 9 – 13 (Culinary Session)

Session 3: July 16 – 20 (Baking Session)

Session 4: July 23 – 27 (Global Session)

 

Come join us this summer at Heart to Hand for a Culinary Adventure….

In all camp sessions kids will learn new cooking and baking techniques in small hands-on classes. Along with knife skills, kitchen safety, recipe development and nutrition kids will also learn about the origin and history of ingredients and recipes. We will focus on using local, seasonal ingredients to cook and bake recipes from around the world. One day in each session will include vegetable gardening and harvesting, a trip to an international food market and an outdoor picnic. The week will end with the kids preparing and hosting a buffet style tasting for parents to come and enjoy.

 

Global Session: In this session we will learn to make different dishes from Japan, Greece, Mexico and beyond. Exploring the world and cultures through food. Delving into the origin and history of the recipes while learning new cooking and baking techniques.

 

Culinary Session: In this session will learn different cooking techniques, recipe development and substitution. We’ll unleash our creative side with presentation and garnishes and have fun being globally inspired using seasonal ingredients.

 

Baking Session: In this session we will make pies, breads, biscuits and cakes from scratch. Along with creating some delicious globally inspired gluten-free dishes we will also explore healthier ways of sweetening things and recipe substitutions.

 

About the Culinary Instructor:  Sam McNamee has over 20 years of experience in hospitality. She has been cooking and creating dishes since as far back as she can remember. Heart to Hand was born out of her passion to inspire and teach the next generation of mindful eaters in a nurturing and creative environment.
